2. General principle
The “GPS Speedometer” app does not transmit personal data, location data or usage data to the developer or third parties.
The app does not require a user account, registration or cloud functionality.
3. Processing of location data
The app uses the location and speed values provided by the Android device to display the current speed and – only when route recording is deliberately started by the user – to record a trip.
Without active route recording, position and speed histories are not stored. When route recording is active, measurement points are stored exclusively on the device as CSV and GPX files. Nothing is transmitted to the developer or third parties. Ongoing location processing ends when neither the display or overlay nor route recording is active, or when the foreground service is stopped.
4. Internet connection
The speed display works without an internet connection as long as the device can receive a GPS signal.
The app does not use its own server connection, cloud synchronisation or online analysis.
5. Advertising, tracking and analytics
The app does not use advertising, advertising networks, analytics services, tracking or profiling.
6. Permissions
The app requires location access to determine speed. The Android permission to display over other apps is required for the overlay. Bluetooth is used for the optional cadence display; depending on the Android version, Bluetooth/device permissions are required and older Android versions additionally require location permission or enabled location services for sensor scanning. Depending on the Android version, notification permission may also be required for the foreground service. On older Android versions, additional storage permission may be required to save route recordings.
7. Local settings and recordings
Selected display options, the selected car/bicycle mode and a selected cadence sensor can be stored locally on the device. Deliberately started route recordings are additionally stored locally in the device’s Documents area under “GPS-Tacho” as GPX and CSV files. These data do not leave the device.
Local app settings can be removed by uninstalling the app or deleting its app data. Route and raw-data files already stored in the Documents area remain independently of this and can be deleted by the user with a file manager.
The app does not process payment data and currently contains no in-app purchases.
8. Accessing this privacy policy webpage
