2. General principle
MediBestand is offered as a native Android app and as a web app. Medication names, strength, dosage, stock, history and optional user/doctor settings are stored locally on the device being used. There is no user account and no proprietary cloud synchronisation. The Android app has no Internet permission. The web app is technically loaded from the web server, but entered medication data is not transmitted to the developer or proprietary servers.
3. Local storage
The Android app stores medication and stock data in a local SQLite database and settings in local app preferences. The web app uses IndexedDB and local browser storage; a service worker also stores the program files required for offline use locally. Data remains local until app data, website data or the installed web app is deleted.
4. Import and export
Import and export are processed locally. In the Android app, files are selected or saved through the Android file picker. In the web app, files are read through the browser file picker or provided as a local download. Medication data is not transmitted to the developer or proprietary servers.
5. Low-stock reminder and prescription request
The low-stock warning is calculated locally from stock and the configured warning threshold. The Android app can also check regularly in the background and show a local Android notification. The web app checks when opened or used; on iOS a daily background check is not available without a server or push service. “Request prescription” passes recipient, subject and text by mailto to the configured mail app. The user decides there whether to send the message. MediBestand stores no mail credentials.
6. Backup and deletion of local data
The Android app allows normal Android system backup; depending on device and backup settings, app data may therefore be included in a device or account backup. For the web app, possible backup of local browser data depends on the operating system and browser. Local PWA data can be removed by deleting the web app or website data. Stock can be exported beforehand as a backup.
7. Advertising, tracking and analytics
The app contains no advertising, advertising networks, analytics services, tracking or profiling.
8. Medication data and purpose
MediBestand is a stock-management tool. It does not derive medical recommendations from the data and does not change dosages by itself. All medication and dosage information is entered by the user.
9. Accessing this website
When this project page or the web app is opened, the hosting provider may process technically necessary access data such as IP address, time, browser type and requested file. Neither the project page nor the web app uses proprietary analytics or tracking. APK downloads are counted only as an anonymous number and, if provided by the server, by country; IP addresses are not stored for this counter. The web app currently has no proprietary usage counter.
